What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arkansas

I've recently been bombarded with a swarm of telemarketing calls. One particular company (the state newspaper), admitted that I never solicited these calls from them; they just saw that I was a new phone number in their area (in all legitimacy, I did recently change my phone number). I usually tell them to put me on their Do Not Call list. It is my understanding that, once I tell them that, they are not legally allowed to call me for at least one year.

Well, just a few hours ago, I got a call from a company I told that to (specifically, Allstate), and they told me that it takes 30 days to update the do not call list.

So, it takes 30 days just to punch my phone number into a ****ing computer? It's much more likely that they are simply using that as an excuse to milk me for the next 30 days.

See, they can stop calling me immediately; they just choose not to. At this point, I can't see how this is anything less than harrassment, especially considering I never even signed up for their telemarketing bullcrap in the first place.

So, should I call my lawyer and take it one step further?

Oh, and for those who think I'm just trying to "get rich quick" like the woman who sued McDonalds for the coffee, stop. I'm prepared to let my lawyer have ALL the damages, because I don't care about making money off this case; just a statement.

There's no other board for harrassment.

If you'd like to move this thread to a board you deem more pertinent, you are more than welcome to.

No need as you have no case. The company DOES have up to 30 days to remove your number from their call list.

So, nope. You aren't being harassed.

You are absolutely correct.

The 30 day provision is the result of lobbying by the telemarketing industry.

The lobbying was for 30 more days because that is worth BILLIONS.

I am not kidding or being sarcastic.

This is the truth. I work at a high level in that industry and KNOW this to be true. Public industry documents AND open trade publications validate this.

How do I do that? I've tried clicking on the OP's name, and then on "Find all posts by..." but nothing happens. Is there another way to do this?

Right click on his name.

Click on 'OPEN'.

That takes you to the OP's member page.

Click on statistics.

Click on 'find all threads'.

(It doesn't work for me when I click on his name and then 'show all posts', either)

Absolutely. Lawyers need to eat too

You could give your lawyer ten times the damages. It's still nothing.
