This happened in St Louis MO.
I rented a car from Enterprise.
Long story short i got pulled over by a cop (who was joined by 3 other police cars) and ticketed for expired and counterfeit tabs. Took the car right back to the rental place (which was 1000 feet away, they could actually see what was going on) and it turns out that the plates on our car didn't belong to that car. The manager said it looked like someone stole the plates on our car and swapped them. I can say with 95% certanty that we left Enterprise with the plates we had when we got pulled over.
Even thou it was a rental, the cops gave me the ticket since i was driving it.
Attending court is going to be a pain, i'm in Arizona and this is in St Louis MO.
Whats the likely outcome of this? Even if i am found guilty, is this just a case of a fine or do i get something on my record somewhere?
At this stage i don't plan on any action against Enterprise. I want to see how they handle the situation or if they are just going to leave me to deal with it on my own. I have asked them for a letter explaining what happened from their end. If i had wanted to take action against them, would i have grounds?
