The United States Bill of Rights is a much better resource than Wikipedia. Read the First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Your answer is there. Do you see it?

There have always been limits placed on speech.

Check out the laws on defamation, national security, consumer protection, advertising, broadcasting, privacy, copyright and trademark, obscenity . . . . and the list goes on and on.

Freedom of speech does not mean you can say whatever you want wherever you want whenever you want with absolute impunity. Try saying you have a bomb while waiting in line in an airport terminal. You will discover the limits of free speech quickly.

Zigner is correct - and Wikipedia is not the most reliable of sources.

please read my OP, i said to be prohibited from the forum due to spelling errors

The government can not limit your speech (in most cases). A private citizen or company can absolutely limit your speach in areas they control. Your employer can fire you for swearing or telling dirty jokes or even just for conversing too much with your coworkers and distracting them. A web site owner can kick you off their site if they don't like what you say, or if you offend them with your horrible spelling. And a homeowner can kick you out of their house if you insult them or for pretty much any other reason under the sun.

But you can't be ARRESTED or thrown in jail for any of the above offenses.

Yes. They could also ban you for the content of your posting ... or because they don't like your screen name ... or because they just have a thing for people with odd spellings of Egyptian gods.

A private entity does not need a reason to ban you from their site in most instances.

So, go back to the web site owner, apologize, and promise to check your spelling before you post again. MAYBE they will be willing to give you a second chance.

abridging the freedom of speech, meaning it cannot reduce it in scope, so what is the original scope, can you provide this for me please?
GOVERNMENT cannot prohibit speech based solely on its content. Private entities can.

you make the same mistake, spelling errors is not a misconduct, it's is just the ability of someone to write good or bad, it is like kicking a handicapped person of a rpivate restaurant cause he cant walk properly

You are missing the key phrase in the first amendment. Here it is again:

CONGRESS SHALL PASS NO LAW....

Congress hasn't passed a law keeping you from posting because your spelling is bad. No one has arrested you or attempted to file criminal charges against you. A private web owner is offended by your spelling and so chooses to ban you from their site. There is no law which prevents him from doing this.

Boy I'm lucky... I've got a thing for odd spellings of Greek princesses. ;)

I think I'll be in the good graces of the forum ghods(sic), for at least today.:D

Doesn't matter ... they can ban you because they feel ornery. They don't even NEED a reason.

well that isn't said there explicitly, it just says what government can or cannot do, is there any US law that covers free speech concerning private entities explicitly?
