Against the company, no. They are entitled to believe her.

Against her, only if you have a valid and supportable reason to believe that she knows what she said is false. If it is her belief that you are biased against women, she is entitled to say so, even if she is mistaken.

Yes you have recourse. Brush up your resume, and start pounding the pavement honey. That battleax has decided you no longer work for her and she is under no obliation to keep you on her payroll.

You also have the right to file for unemployment benefits.

You were subject to an accusation of sex discrimination by a subordinate and dismissed.

You should contact the EEOC, but don't expect much unless you have left out a lot of the story.

You should also file for unemployment.

And, it would probably be a good idea to leave out the word "battleax" when describing your reason for leaving your last job during future job interviews.

Just why would the OP contact the EEOC?

You've provided no evidence whatsoever that her allegation is "goofy." The term "battleax" is a term that is only applied to women. Whoops! I think you just shot yourself in the foot.

And I doubt the company would fire you based on one person's complaint.

I agree with you, Hot Topic. Referring to this woman in such a demeaning term makes me think her complaint is not wholly without foundation.

Agree. She could be Lucifer is disguise and it STILL wouldn't make this illegal discrimination. :p
