What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois
I am currently taking care of a little girl (not foster) her family wants her to stay with me, Mom and dad are both dead and Grandma is old and unable to keep up with this little girls extreme medical needs.
I have offered to keep her, the family wants to turn rights over to me.
Is that adoption? or can it been done some other way. DCFS of course is opposing this, why? If they feel she can't return to the family due to her medical needs, what is the big deal if I keep her? The family wants, the child wants it and I want it..what can we do quickly to keep her in my care?
thank you...and I did not fall off the stupid tree as I see some posts get as a reply. I fell off the "Help little girl" tree. So please advice.

Let's start with the facts:

Who has legal custody right now?
Who are you in the situation?
Why is DCFS opposing your guardianship?
How long has the child been in your care?

Without answers to those questions, it is impossible to give meaningful advice.
