What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana****************************....We adopted a girls 3 years ago, and now wish that we would not have. She is abusive, destructive, very defiant to authority and lies to us all the time. We cannot trust her with anything. She does not want to be with us anymore....what can we do to sign custody of her over to someone else?

I am in Indiana, we have a foster daughter that we decided to adopt 6 months ago....well things have changed, and we have changed our minds now, we do not want to adopt her. We have been told by the adoption attorney that works for the county that the adoption papers are all finalized, and the only thing left to do is go before the judge.... Since it has gone this far are we now commited? Or can we revoke the adoption and cancel it? PLEASE give a speedy answer. Thank you

Was this a foster care adoption? How long did you have trial placement BEFORE choosing to finalize and adopt? How much reading and research did you do on children in foster or institutional care before you adopted?

Are you working with a therapist well versed on attachment disorder, because it sure sounds like that could be part of her problem.

Other than that, you have no idea how long the child was in their care prior to the adoption.

I've never figured this out. If you're coming here for advice on how to deal with a difficult solution, why wouldn't you provide accurate information? False information is likely to lead to bad advice - and you may be worse off than if you didn't do anything. I understand the need for confidentiality, but that's apparently not the issue since they (presumably) gave the right information in one of the posts.

I can believe it isn't a troll, and just an evil ignorant ass. I have a family I'm working with that has adopted several children. There sole source of income is the adoption subsidies. They adopted just for the money, as far as I can tell.

When their son turned 15, they reported him as incorrigible. The PO, no longer with our department, put him into placement. When their daughter turned 15, they reported her for incorrigible. I refused to recommend placement, even though these (**^^&* hired an attorney to try to force us to put the girl into placement. (The girl had an attorney appointed by the Court since her parents were not out for her best interests.)
