Unlocking adoption records

So I was adopted in Washington State in 1980. I have already recieved my non identifying information and submitted a consent to contact. I noticed that in my medical records, it says my birth mother was 26 when i was born but in my non identifying information, it says she was 27. Is this discrepency enough to unlock my records?

Nuts! I just really don't know much about the process and have run into nothing but walls. Thanks!

I think those walls are there intentionally, if you are talking about a closed adoption.

Yeap.

Some States have mutual consent registry where if all parties agree, certain information can be shared.

Unfortunately WA isn't one of them.

Unfortunately, I did not agree upon a closed adoption and I still would like to at least attempt to reach out to my birth parents. Especially knowing that I have siblings out there somewhere. I would regret not trying to contact them. If only to be rejected. But I'd like to be given the chance.

If anyone knows of any work arounds, even just to let them know I'm looking... I think that if I knew that they knew I wanted contact I would be happy. I really just want to thank them for the opportunity to live! I'm grateful every day for the life I was given.

Actually, you did. Since you were a minor, your parents made the decision for you (as was their right.)

There's no real workaround. You could, however, try something like this:
