My son's biological father has passed away. My husband wants to adopt my son. I have done a bit of research and found that it is possible to do this on our own without a lawyer. I am not sure where to start or what type of adoption this is called to find the right forms. There is no consent from the biological father because he is no longer alive. Where do I start and what type of adoption is this? Thank you for your time!

It really is a poor idea to try to do an adoption without an attorney. Too many things can go wrong. Since it is not necessary to obtain the consent of the other parent, it should be a relatively inexpensive adoption. At least talk to a couple of attorneys.
