I am in Ohio and seeing someone 6+ months now. She is supposedly a single-mom & baby-daddy is not in the picture.

I just found out that baby-daddy actually owns the house where she lives & her car - and is around a lot more than she told me. I have been supporting her for awhile now - usually every time an 'emergency' pops up.

I have paid for car repairs, paid for the water bill and other utilities, paid for medical co-pays, medicine, general living expenses and baby needs. Total outlay is around $3k.

Some things have changed and I'm now getting the feeling that I've been getting played this whole time. Apart from suing in small claims what else can I do?

If she's been lying to get me to pay her money that would be a criminal matter correct? What constitutes a white-lie from outright fraud?

Can I put liens on the home or vehicle even though they are probably in baby-daddy's name? I am starting to think that he may be involved in defrauding me too - but I don't know how I could prove that.

I'm not seeing any fraud.

I am seeing someone who's been played - but that's not necessarily a crime.

Did she make any promise to repay you?

so i'd still have a case in small claims for the dog right?

we discussed how it was to be 'our' dog & not exclusively hers...

What dog? This is the first mention of a dog.

And she saw you coming from a mile away. Since there is no agreement for her to ever repay you for the money you gave her, it would be considered a gift in the eyes of the law. Gifts are NOT debts to be repaid.

Probably should have been thinking with the OTHER head instead of the one below your belt...:D Stop falling for her lies and stop the gravy train. It's not your job to support her and her child. Consider yourself lucky that all you lost was $3k.

You chose to pay her bills. You didn't have to. Maybe if you'd have known her better before you decided to pay her bills, you would have known what her living situation was. She didn't extort you for the money. You willingly paid it. That's on you.
