What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio

When I was a teenager I caused an accident that resulted in the death of another, I pleaded no contest to drunken driving and vehicular homicide. I am now 51 years old and wondering if I can have my record cleared, I han't had any legal trouble but that accident. I have heard of getting your record expunged but not sure due to the severity of my crime if it's an option for me.

If it is possible how do I start the process?

In OH, it's called "sealing" your record. That might have been a problem in your search, the "wrong" word.

I recently tried to join an organization involved in search and rescue and my application was immediatly denied because of my history. I will never try and minimize the severity of what I did but now that I have more time in my life I would like to donate that time to worthy causes, and most of the applications I have looked at ask for your criminal history.
