Citizenship after divorce

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado
I've been married to a U.S. citizen for 23 years and want to divorce him, I do not have citizenship yet, long story, 2 near fatal car accidents with years of therapy etc and time has just gone by.

If I apply for citizenship after I divorce him will I have any problems? I know, if he can, he and his family will make my life miserable and try to stop the citizenship so I am worried.

Lived in the U.S. the whole 23 years, only visiting Europe twice to visit for a few weeks.

Because your marriage is so long term and you have been a legal resident of the US for so long, you no longer need marriage in order to obtain citizenship. You no longer need the cooperation of your husband or any member of his family to obtain citizenship.

I am sorry, but I do not really understand your question.

However, there is absolutely NOTHING that her spouse or family could do to prevent her citizenship.

Are you asking how OP's spouse could stop her application for citizenship?
If so... well, OP's spouse could frame her for a crime. A murder conviction or an aggravated felony conviction could bar OP from gaining US citizenship.

Are you asking what could legally be done to OP's spouse, to punish him/his family for attempting to stop OP from applying for citizenship through completely legal means?
If so... probably not much.
