I signed a record deal with a scammer who told me he was the owner of an independent record label. Later to find out he is not affiliated with the label he only knows the owner. after parting ways from this record deal he has been threatening that he owns my career and that I better do what he says. What can I do?

I have videos and text proof showing how he goes around and gets people to believe that he is someone he is not

If he had no authority to represent the company any contract you signed with the company is invalid.

But did you sign a contract with the record label or with this guy, possibly as hiring him as an agent?

I would suggest you take your contract to an attorney who can read it and give yiu an opinion on it.

Have you contacted an actual representative of the record label to inquire as to his relationship? They may appreciate being told of somebody who has no authority that is claiming they represent their record label.

What is the name of your state, 1charlesthegr8, or, if not in the US, what is the name of your country? Laws vary in significant ways from country to country.

Wherever you happen to be located in the world, whenever you have a contract dispute that cannot be cleared up through discussion with the other party to the contract, having an attorney review the agreement can be important.

It sounds to me (and justalayman touched on this) that the person you signed with is an agent. Whether he is or not, though, I agree with justalayman that contacting the record label might help to not only clarify this person's role with the label (if the person has any role) but can put the record label on alert that someone is using their name, perhaps without authorization.

Again, please let us know your state name, or the name of your country if not in the US. Thanks.
