Quiting job to avoid paying alimony

My soon to be ex has been gainfully employed by the same company since 2008, while I was a stay at home mom for our entire marriage (eight years). I filed for Divorce in August 2015, all divorce proceedings were 'put on hold' due to him having pending criminal charges, no temporary orders were entered other than child support (figuring out my attonrey is worthless!!!). Now that we are finally moving forward with the divorce, he is claiming he has lost his job. He has not paid the mortgage on the marital property where myself and his children reside (granted in a protective order and temporary sole custody order) since December 2015. He also has not paid the car loan on the vehicle I drive (loan in his name only, title in both names), however continues to pay the loa on the truck he is driving. He CLAIMS to have lost his job, but I hired a private investigator who has recorded him coming and going from his place of employment for the last three weeks. I suspect he is making these false statments in an attempt to avoid paying alimony, as well as to allow the marital home to go into foreclosure (his name only on loan, both names on deed) to avoid me having any interest to gain in the sale of the property. What recourse do I have if any?

He also recently purchased another vehicle for himself, securing a loan of over $7K....is that considered maritial property as well, even though it was purchased after the petition for disolution of marriage?

1) You need to get a job. You should have gotten a job in August 2015 when you filed for divorce.
2) How do you figure your attorney is worthless? Because you didn't get everything you wanted?
3) Truthfully, you need to realize that if he doesn't want to pay, he won't and you need to put on your big girl pants and support yourself and your children.
4) The car he purchased could be considered marital property however WHAT equity does it have?

Gosh thanks. I didn't know that when my abusive ex was arrested for batter and child abuse that I might actually have to deal with life like an adult and get a job. Good thing I got that job back in October so I could pay for that private investigator to prove my ex is hiding assets and income or, golly I don't know what I would do!

As for my attorney. I am paying her for a service. I expect my phone calls and emails to be returned. I expect meetings to be held as scheduled and not canceled four consecutive times because she cannot arrange child care. I expect her to protect my best interest because that is what I pay her for. A temporary order for him to CONTINUE to pay the mortgage, and all utilities like he has done our entire marriage should have been put in place....seeing as how I have limited income potential after being absent from my field of work for almost ten years. You know, i quit a great job to stay home and sit on my butt , did nothing but change diapers and wipe butts while he earned his masters so I guess that's just my bad huh? Silly me.

The car....valued at $18K....he purchased from a family member for far less than its actual value, I'm not realKy good at basic math but I think that means there's equity there.

Perhaps the $$ you spent on the PI would have been better spent on the home your children live in.

maybe that would work if the PI didn't cost only 1/3 of a mortgage payment and I had no idea until two weeks ago that he quit paying the mortgage in December, after paying it for the four months previous. Again....silly me.

Yeah silly you. YOU should have been keeping track of the payments made on the HOUSE you LIVE in and that apparently you feel entitled to. Why didn't you?
