What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
I divorced my wife in January 2016 and get married to another person in the united states february 2017, My new wife wants to file for my green card but i mistakenly filed my 2016 tax return jointly with my divorced wife. Though, the divorce was filed back in Africa. is that going to be a problem when filing for my green card and what could possibly be the solution?

You need to amend your 2016 return if you filed married. You are only allowed to do that if you were married at the end of the tax year. A tax professional is probably the best bet.

None of this is going to have any bearing on your green card, presuming you did the divorce right and you didn't end up making a bigamous married in whatever undisclosed state you got married in. THERE'S GOOD REASON WHY FORUM PUTS THAT PROMPT IN. You can't get a certain answer if you don't follow the rules.

How did you accidentally file a 2016 tax return with your ex wife? The solution to that would be to immediately (before April 18th) to file an amended paper return zeroing out the original joint return, and then to also file a paper return as a single person. You need to see a tax professional about this as it's a bit complicated and you do not have very much time.
