What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I'm in California. I'm in arrears by about a year. I'm about to start working again but someone told me they can garnish my entire check. Is this true??? Thanks in advance!

No, it's not true.

They can garnish up to 60% of your check if you don't have a second family to support, and 50% if you do.

55% and 65% since if the obligor is over 12 weeks in arrears.

You know, when I wrote 50 and 60 my brain was saying something different.

I should listen to my brain more often. Thank you for the correction :)

Frankly, I had to double-check. The 65% stuck in my mind due to arrears, but I didn't realize/remember there was a lower number of the obligor has another family.
