What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA. My family is being charged more than $2,500 because we had made international calls while on their phone service to the Philippines. During the initial setup phone call, we specified if the calls to the Philippines were free and were told yes. Now after a few phone calls we are told that we cannot obtain access to that phone call and that we most likely will have to pay the bill with no reimbursements. What can we do?

Pay the bill.

"I was told" are the most dangerous words in the English language.

What does your contract say?

Well, we never got an actual and physical contract. We did the whole setup during the phone call through a phone representative and while he was listing what was included, he said unlimited international calls. The website had said that the service only included Mexico and Canada, but when I specified if the Philippines was included he said that it was so I was surprised. A week or two later, we got a phone call saying that the amount accumulated through international calls was more than $700, then it became $2,500 on the bill after more fees were added. I am just confused as to why I am being held responsible for being misinformed. It was clearly a mistake on their part for insisting that their service included something that was not actually included in the bundle.

Get the name of that salesperson + the time and date he said calls to the Philippines would be free, and take that info to someone as high as you can get to at the phone company. Not saying this will work, but it's possibly the best thing you can do to get this wiped.
