What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas My daughter and her boyfriend had a baby in Oct. 2009. Boyfriend got sent to prison for a minimum of 5 years. Daughter is a major pothead so CPS got involved. I was the temporary...

What address do I use to sue?...

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas I'm in the process of taking a trash company to small claims court. They're listed as an LLC. The court requires the authorized agent for service's name on the statement of claim. I've got that info, but don't know what address to list...

Advice on a Child Support Modify Order...

What is the name of your state? Texas My 16 yr. old child went to live w/my ex-husband and his girlfriend/common-law wife in January this year. This was a mutual decision between ex and myself. We were only married 7 months; I left him before I knew I was pregnant. Anyway... His "wife," who...

Is There Much Trouble Collectiong On Life Ins Claims?...

What is the name of your state? Texas I have some general questions, not really legal ones... I know it can be like pulling teeth getting legitimate health claims paid. Is it the same way with Life Insurance claims? I realize filling out the paperwork honestly and completely is key, but are...

    Should I Get Individual Policy?...

What is the name of your state? Texas I used to "do" the health insurance billing for some surgeons, but still don't know "everything." So perhaps someone can "guide" me... I retired (early) in April. I have coverage through my husband's employer. He may retire (early) soon, too. Since...

    Healthcare Provider Billing Requirements

This scenario would be worth investigating, but keep in mind: This only applies to whether the provider failed to file a CLAIM to the insurance carrier in a timely manner; it has nothing to do with a time-limit on sending a BILL to the patient. If the doctor filed a claim in a timely manner...

Dentist charged in excess of HMO negotiated fees

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, you have to scream loud and scream often sometimes to get anywhere.

Have you STILL not heard from your carrier or dentist regarding this?!?

Retroactive Change to COBRA Plan in 2002

Your situation is very interesting. I have little to offer, but... I see insurance companies retroactively cancel policies all the time. The policyholder must be notified of the cancellation and offered continuance through COBRA, by law. Those errors alone should warrant more consideration...

Dentist charged in excess of HMO negotiated fees

JetX, I don't believe I'm a "yahoo," but whatever. I stand by my advice regardless of your own perceived "expertise" in the matter.

Dentist charged in excess of HMO negotiated fees

JETX, I don't know what you're getting all riled up about. I work for surgeons and know that the Licensing Board is who has, in two instances, been the entity "to put the pressure on" when a patient was being billed incorrectly. How? The patient contacted them and they went to work on us...

Dentist charged in excess of HMO negotiated fees

Well at least the carrier is investigating this. I would give it a couple more weeks to hear from the dentist. If they don't do the right thing (or don't respond), I would file a complaint on this dentist with the state dental licensing board. Obviously you will need to keep records of all...

Dentist charged in excess of HMO negotiated fees

There is a complaint process with my HMO, and currently I am in the second step of that process. Doesn't my HMO have an obligation to see that the approved providers charge according to their schedule? Yes. And HMO's frown on providers billing over their fee schedule. Shouldn't my HMO be...

    health insurance company bankruptcy

Contact the doctor's office and have them furnish you with a copy of the bankruptcy notice, then contact the court trustee and see what your rights are. I've seen some insurance bankruptcy cases that expressly prohibited the doctors from billing the policyholders. I'm guessing it is more...

    Self insured denial

Ok, I think I understand their "logic" now. You were on a diets in the past and weren't morbidly obese, at least part of that time, which shows them that dieting worked for you, to some extent, in the past. They want to establish what could have changed in the last 2 years that would cause...
