    ip83 and the unsigned citation

What is the name of your state? Texas When you do not sign the citation, for whatever reason, that does not negate the charge he is making, and the fact of his turning in his copy to DMV means you will almost certainly be held to responsibilities, as described on the citation. Having not signed...

Legal define of running a red light

Speed is not an issue, as the case was stated. Problem is that a cop says you entered the intersection too late....after the yellow turned to red. You say you entered it anywhere up to 4 seconds earlier. If you have video of the actual event, showing the light and your car, maybe that will help...

Didn't receive written notice for court appearance

Are you telling us that the testimony posted on this forum is usable in court? Isn't it possible that the fellow heard the date wrong? What if he shows up on 4/3/05, and tells the court that date is the one he was told? It is always best to get it in writing, wouldn't you say?

appeal of civil infraction in michigan

A screwinmich cost you $10 more than the one I got from New Mexico. Gettin unscrewed is always more costly and time-consuming....and is certainly a long way from a sure thing. Even so, if you can afford it, and have what it takes to fight city hall, it will benefit others in the long run. I have...

clean driving record, not stopping at red light

Gotta presume the cop, from his angle of view or reasoning, got the idea the light was red. If you can figure that out from the configuration of the lights and their timing, and this illustrates the fellow came to the wrong conclusion, the cop may buy it and alter his judgement about light...

    Disregarding a Stop Sign trial?

That "lurch" is not a lurch at all. Happens when the inertia of motion in the undercarriage ceases, and the coach settles back on the springs/frame....when inertia of motion ends and inertia of rest begins. Sounds to me like you actually did come to a stop, and all these cops want to give you a...

ontario resident speeding tkt in Vermont

You need a lawyer, and pretty soon. If there is anything like a non-resident violator compact between Canada and the states, ignoring the ticket would mean revocation of your driver's license. Seems likely there would be a compact of some kind, otherwise VT could exact a bond or collect the fine...

Should I fight this speeding ticket myself? Or hire someone?

Yes, but this forum is supposed to deal with cases in the US....MPH, and not km/h. While it is noble to fight for justice, once you have gotten as many breaks as your message claims, the mercy of the court is all you've got left. Maybe they have an alternative sentencing thing....like driver's...

PLease help ticket in Pasadena Texas

If you tell the same story to a judge, it wouldn't be a good idea to suggest you knew the speed you were traveling at the time. You are just guessing that was the speed, anyhow....right...and were traveling with the flow of traffic? If you get a lawyer (and you should), it won't take but a few...

Should I fight this speeding ticket myself? Or hire someone?

Dog was rushing to cross the railroad tracks, and a train wheels clipped off half his tail. Dog looked back, saw the piece of tail, and tried to retrieve it. Train cut off his head.

CA Ticket - Officer did not complete ticket?

If the cop gets wind of the no location notation, he will simply add a location. A lawyer should be able to prevent that. After a lawyer or judge is clued in, the cop is less likely to make the effort. The other omissions will help a little.

No one will honor a driver's course... (VA citation for a TX licensee)

When the Non-resident Violators Compact is involved, it doubles your trouble. What will work in the higher courts is something very iffy, barely tested at all, considering that mind-set among law enforcement and the judges that traffic stuff is small potatos that they should be spared the...

    Out of country ticket

I think he said the fine was for posessing a particular piece of electronic equipment....contriband across the border.

what if the officer didn't sign it?

Seniorjudge, Can't write that as an axiom. In New Mexico, not all citations go to the courthouse....just the ones handled by a judge.

    Police mistake= suspended license

That happens all the time. Cops are allowed to lie and make a lot of mistakes, without that impacting on the proceedures and process which culminates in your penalty. Generally speaking, the cost and hassle to a citizen would be far too great for just remedy to be achieved. You will need a...
