Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

Hi Quincy, finally heard back from the Cemetery and Funeral Bureau in answer to my complaint wherein the Chico Cemetery has failed to honor the dimensions found on the deed of my family's lot. Quoting: "Our bureau thoroughly investigation your complaint alleging that Chico Cemetery failed to...

Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

Quincy - I have a friend who owns a local funeral home. He recommends I write the California Department of Consumer Affairs Cemetery and Funeral Bureau Chief which I plan to do. The notion there is insufficient evidence to support a violation of the Bureau's laws, rules, or regulations is...

Thank you, Quincy, you are reading my mind. Headline, "Chico Cemetery Robbing Grave Sites" - gotta love it.

Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

LdiJ There are no other burials that are anywhere near my family lot. And burial of cremated remains takes up less space. Why would it be unreasonable for me to expect the Cemetery to have a parcel map that they can share with me?

Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

The first burial in this cemetery was in 1852. According to the county, "The cemetery records a cemetery map, but that does not include individual plots owners, it’s usually a new area where the cemetery will have plots in the future. If you looking for a map or a survey for your individual...

Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

@ adjusterjack If, "They've done that, at least once when the cemetery was first created..." then why won't they give me a copy of that? Land surveying allows you to understand your land boundaries. A survey is performed in order to locate, describe, monument, and map the boundaries and...

Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

@ quincy Yes, I made a typo in my original post and was off by 1/4" (sorry!) Ownership of the cemetery changed from local to a corporation in Florida a couple of years ago. As the cemetery is old, they are running out of room so it is not outside the realm of possibilities that they are...

Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

@ quincy Thank you for the stellar idea. I will ask the cemetery for an earlier drawing. I agree, looks like they are attempting to reconfigure and add more lots to the cemetery by stealing mine!

Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

@ zddoodah My question from my original post, "that" refers to: My California Cemetery Deed shows my lot measures 24' x 14-1/2' (note correction from 14-1/4" to 14-1/2"). The cemetery measured it and says my lot is 26' x 11-1/2' The cemetery is demanding I pay for a survey to prove what my...

Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

@ adjusterjack "...(a) In case of land, SURVEY (emphasis added) and subdivide it..." You wrote, "OK, they did that." The cemetery has no survey. My family purchased this lot in 1965 and I do not believe title insurance was purchased.

Cemetery is refusing to honor my Cemetery Deed dimensions

California Health and Safety Code at 8550 provides, in pertinent part, "Every cemetery authority, from time to time as its property may be required for interment purposes, shall: (a) In case of land, survey and subdivide it into sections, blocks, plots, avenues, walks or other subdivisions...
