oh wow the cheapest I have found are over 1000 we can only get a marriage licence in one part of the UK as he is not a British citizen it is about 500 to book there plus travel expenses plus I guess I think actually getting married is a huge decision and I'm not sure I'm ready for that

we tried calling the US embassy when he first arrived in order to try get him a visa but I hadn't thought that maybe they could help with getting him home. I have come to realise our naivety and understand he needs to go back home and we need to follow the proper channels and he needs to apply...

the problem is both we were hoping we could get him a visa within the 6 months he was here I am a UK citizen and he is an American citizen

I live in England, my partner is from the USA, we were quite naive in thinking it would be easy for him to get a visa to stay on the UK when he arrived here in may however I haven't even been able to find advice let alone anything else and his tourist visa expires at the start of November...
