Being in CA, the debt is out of the statute of limitations. They can try and collect, but if they sue, you have an affirmative defense. Do you have proof of the age of the debt? If so, send a cease and desist letter, certified mail return receipt. If not, send a debt validation letter, CMRR.- cmorris

How are you going to prove they received the fax? This is the very reason why certified mail, return receipt is so important. You should be able to win the case. If you have proof they received everything (I don't know how you would), file a countersuit.- cmorris

Yes. Even thoughh you paid it, you want them to send you proof. Disputing with the credit bureaus puts them on a timeline. They have to send validation before verifying with the credit bureaus, or that is a violation. This process may help you to just get these deleted from your reports...- cmorris
