Ok, I was wondering what rights my mother still has over me. I live in PA, just so you know. I am only 17 but I am a sophmore in college. Thusly, I have graduated from high school. I was also pregnant back in October, but I had a miscarriage. My mom also uses the social security checks I get each month to pay for the rent and bills and everything. Thusly, I am somewhat supporting her. I am getting social security because my dad was in the military and died when I was a baby. Thusly, what rights does my mother still hold over me? Thanks!

You're 17 and a minor. Are you self-supporting? Have you been legally emancipated? No? She has every right over you, sweetheart.

The Social Security you recieve is not your money, it is given to you so your legal guardian (your mother) can provide food and shelter for you. Till the day you turn 18, there is very little you can do.

I hope you're not majoring in English. The word is "thus" (and shouldn't be used more than once in a paragraph).

"Thusly" was introduced in the 19th century as an alternative to "thus" in sentences such as "Hold it thus" or "He put it thus". It appears to have first been used by humorists, who may have been echoing the speech of poorly educated people straining to sound stylish. The word has subsequently gained some currency in educated usage, but it is still often regarded as incorrect. A large majority of the Usage Panel found it unacceptable in an earlier survey. In formal writing thus can still be used as in the examples above; in other styles this way, like this, and other such expressions are more natural.

Thanks

Just saying thank you for your advice to stealth2 & racer72. And to You Are Guilty, I am not an English major. I actually hated my English classes. I am a chemistry major and music minor. But I do thank you for pointing out the thus thing.
