What is the name of your state? Oklahoma
I have a daughter that turned 18 in Feburary. She is in the 11th grade. She will be 19 when she graduated and child support ends. Since she has turned 18 she has decided on a couple of occasions not to go for visits. Should I make her? Help!

My response:

Yeah, right. You'd have about as much luck "making her" as you would "making" an elephant fly. At 18, she's an adult. She can vote, she can enter into contracts, and everything else you can do. In other words, despite the child support law, she's no longer a "child".

Thanks. I just didn't know, considering he is still paying child support , if she or me could get into trouble. I have always encouraged a relationship with my children and their father. So there is nothing he can do to me or her?

Yeah, she thinks Dad should pay but she shouldn't have to spend her time with him.

Even when I was 18, if my parents said I had to fo t Grandma's or Aunt Rosie's or whatever, I knew that if I wanted access to the car, or to have a new dress for that party, I'd better not mess with them. Not that they coul "make" me. but they sure could NOT let me have the perks. Even at 18, if one are living under a parent's roof, there are consequences for pulling crap like that. My parent's would not have hesitated dolling out the consequences and I hope you do, as well. She needs to understand that if she wants to take from Dad she needs to also give a little (time that is).
