What is the name of your state? California

I have not filed taxes for 2 years (2001 and 2002). I would like to file them but I have no money and will owe a bunch. What I don't want is to get in trouble. What's the best way for me to go about this?

My husband did this. He was 5 years behind. He simply filed normally for the year..(this was last year, so he filed for 2002). They sent him a bill. He called the phone number on the bill, and spoke to the IRS. They set up a monthly payment plan with him; they work with you so you don't pay more than you can afford. They were very very kind. It's not like you are trying to avoid paying them, so they won't come after you. It won't be as bad as you think..just take a deep breath and file.

The sooner you file the better -- interest stops when you're paid in full, but late filing penalties stop when you file.
