I am wife #2. My husband has fallen behind in child support/alimony payments to previous wife. Am I liable (and if so how so) for his obligations to ex, should she take this to court? What if most of my assets (stocks, house, property) are in my name from prenuptual agreement? Does this matter? If I am liable for his debts, which of my assets are subject to being claimed by the ex? All parties involved live in state of Oregon. Thank you kindly

liability for ex spousal child support debts!

Yes, I have the same problem that you have, concerning my new husbands child support debt. He has been ill and fell 50 thousand dollars behind. I have sent money to his ex-wife attempting to be fair, and now she is threatening to go to a lawyer to take all of my money. I have about 300,000 dollars, and am also afraid, she will take it. Me lawyer does not thing that she can, and is checking into it at this time. Please let me know soo, as she has an appointment tonight to speak to an attorney. I am thinking about just putting everything in my safe! Please help us to find the answers....anyone. I am from upper Michigan.
Scared in Michigan....Gypsy!
