What is the name of your state? WY

I'm almost ready to file Chapter 7 and had a question about the 341 meeting and the role of the Trustee. Will I need to supply bank account statements, credit reports, title searchs, things like that to verify the information on my petition? Does the trustee do any of that prior to the meeting?

Hi I am in AZ and I can tell you what we needed to show, but every Trustee differs. Prior to the 341 meeting, the trustee asked us to send her the following: (copies, never originals) of our entire 2002 & 2003 income tax returns, all motor vehicle titles in our name with mileage, etc, she wanted to know if any wages were owed to us on the day we filed. (example: pretend we quit our jobs the day we filed, how much $ would be coming to us), a current paycheck stub for the week we filed, statements from all our banks stating the balance on the day we filed, also statement for 3 month prior to our filing day, any divorce settlement papers from last 2 years, any judgements obtained in our favor, stocks, life insurance policies showing cash value, IRA's, pension statements, etc. from 6 months prior to filing date, deeds on all property we have any interest in & any appraisals on property generated in the last year, any trust agreements that we have an interest in whatsoever. On top of all this, there was a questionnaire we had to fill out with other things like did we transfer any assets or pay back any family members during the past 12 months or are we due to inherit any money.

At our 341 meeting, the trustee also asked to send her copies of all checks we had written that were over $750 in the last 3 months.

I know this is alot of info but I wish someone had told me all this before so I could have prepared a little better prior to filing. Everyone's situation is different but hope this helps you. Good Luck!

If you are filing pro se, you may be asked for more info than if you have a lawyer. Its the lawyer's job to verify the information on your papers, AND, when you sign the papers, you are swearing that the contents are true and accurate.

What Trustees want varies widely, most people only have to take just their ID and SS card with them. However, just to be on the safe side, it may be a good idea to have 3 months of bank statments, the last 2 years tax returns, and copies of titles to vehicles on-hand in case you ARE asked for any of if.
