What is the name of your state? illinois
pls let us know if the management company can make us pay for not notifying them 60 days prior to our move out date. I see nothing in our lease and managment can not come up with any proof. They are charging us 10 days later from termination date of lease which is 5/31/05 the extended lease until June 11, 2005 and are charing us 418.00

Let me re-phrase the ?

How much notice does the lease say you have to give 30 60 days notice?

They are not charging for not telling you owe them what ever the period of notice was that you were required to give..

EXAMPLE: If its 60 days notice requirement and you just up and leave you owe them 60 days rent.

illinois,

our lease is up 5/31/5 and we intend to honor, this whole bit with managment charging us came about because we did not give 60 days. basically we had to tell them by april 1st, so they are extending lease from 6/1 to 6/11 and wrote on my move out checklist not on any legal form my lease states 5/31/5 as expiration. i'm afraid if i don't pay they will come after me at a later date.

You have not answered the question.
HOW MANY DAYS NOTICE DOES YOUR LEASE REQUIRE?
Most leases convert to month to month at expiration or require you signing a new lease, what does your lease say?
If your lease requires a 60 day notice that is different than the expiration date of the lease and to move out on 5-31-5 you would have to give notice 4-1-5, otherwise you owe the remaining rent.

Then you are lucky. They COULD HAVE extended your lease for a full month.

The OP already answered your questions in regarding how many days the lease states must be given notice... See Bold...

If the lease does NOT have any clause in regards to giving notice, they can come after you(if they are smart) for your states statute regarding giving notice... For instance if the lease does not have a clause for giving notice, you must follow the state statute in giving notice... Usually 30-days for a year or less lease, and 60-days for 1+ years... Double check your states LL/T laws...
