I live in Virginia. In 1999 at the end of the year, November 16th, my husband of 5 years walked out saying he was going to work. He has been gone since that morning and I have had not a word from him. Now I am thinking, he's either going to have one heck of a paycheck with overtime, or he has dumped me. I have no clue as to his where abouts. His job he had has no clue (he just left). I am dirt poor and clean houses for a living. We had no children or personal property together. It would be totally uncontested and with nothing to fight over, should beover with quickly. I have no idea if he has went to family members in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky or Michigan or wherever else he has family. These are just places he had mentioned having relatives. I have never met them , know their names, or ever been to any of these places. I have no money for a divorce but I want to be rid of him if he no longer loves me. I would just like to know if there is any way after all these years, if I can please get on with my life. Can someone please help me?

Surely you reported him missing after the first 24 hrs as any good wife would do. What have the police investigation come up with?
He could have been a victim of a serious crime, you know.

Good wife?

Calling his boss, then the police was the first thing I did. They checked with his job and they were told he had put in his 2 weeks notice and was leaving Virginia. He was tired of being married. He was "done" with it, as he put it. They are NOT the issue here. As far as me being a good wife, he dumped me out like garbage. All I want is my freedom back.

Divorce can be done by publication when no whereabouts are known. Get an attorney and file.

Ok

Ok, somehow this has become a missing persons case , which it is NOT. The man planned it obviously if he had put in his 2 weeks notice and told his co workers he was tired of being married. He is not missing (except to me) and there has been no foul play. Men dump women all the time and just move on. It had never happened to me before, so I thought I could get help here. All I wanted to know was how do you divorce a man who doesn't want to be found and left no forwarding address to even be served with divorce papers.
