My family is dealing with something I wouldn't wish on anybody. A staph infection in a surgical wound. After back surgery 3 weeks ago My husband was diagnosed with this. Now we have had 6 I&D's. We will be on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks. The pain is horrible for him. He is so very weak. It is so sad to watch a young independant man become very dependant.

i am wondering if there is anything laws that would help our family. Our insurance has a huge copay for home health, plus our hospital bills are huge with copays adding up.

Any advice for me??

Thanks

Well, he should eat yogurt or drink cultured buttermilk and add at least one protein supplement a day such as a cheese or peanut butter sandwich.

You should stop having I&Ds and taking anitibiotics; he needs you to be healthy and he needs his infection to be his alone. If you share his illness (even supportively with the using of "we"), he won't get well as fast.

If the infection is due to negligence, post the circumstances and those of us who are healthcare professionals will read and respond.

ANY wound can get infected, be it surgical or accidental. Can you be more specific:
Do you have a question regarding malpractice?
It is a shame you and he are going through this, but it does happen. If you have some specific information to help us aid you, regarding your thoughts on why you would need a law to help you , let us know and we will offer our advice.

interest in staph infection

One member had ask " who am I?" I am simply a person that will soon have surgery and most interested in "hospital acquired infections"
I do not have the responsibility at this time to be a "caregiver" however, would gladly do so if needed or ask to do so.
