What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
My daughter's birth certificate shows father unknown. Now she is 31 and finally wants that corrected. I have court records from a welfare case where my ex decided to receive welfare even though I was giving her money and taking custody on an equal basis. I paid back the money to the state as the biological father. How do I go about this?

So, you were found by a court of law to be the biological father? If so, you are going to want to find the paperwork for that case and take it with you to the department of vital records so that you can be added to the birth certificate. It was actually your responsibility to do that at that time.

Thanks. The court did not mention that and it never occurred to me.
