I am not sure if I even have a case or what I can do about it. I went to my daughters school the other day to sign up for volunteer work. When I entered the main office, I asked for a volunteer sign up sheet and the woman looked me up and down and said "We don't have a volunteer program". I let her know that the school has sign up sheets for it online but that I was having a hard time getting them to print so I was wondering if they kept any copies in the office. She the said "Oh, yeah we have them and you can fill one out but I'm telling you right now we don't have any needs for volunteers". I filled it out anyway and then left.... in tears.
I am a young parent of an 11 year old and 5 year old. I appear to be a lot younger than I actually am. I am 31 years old and could definately pass for 16 I feel that they ladies in the office thought that I was too young to be volunteering at the middle school not knowing that I have a child at the school.
I wrote an email to the superintendent, asking for his attention and resolution in this matter and have not received a response. I think its inportant to mention that I am not some child trying to raise a child. I have been extremely involved in my childrens education in the past. We recently bought a home in a new school district and I wanted to continue volunteering.
Please help!!!!
