What is the name of your state? Arizona

I have been in my last position for the past year at a non profit agency. I have supervised 8 people without incident, hired by a manager who is no longer at the agency due to his concerns with upper management. I have had 2 evaluations for raises (which were granted) and have received only positive feedback.

Someone in upper management errantly sent out an email on Friday to middle management re: one of those managers (I am one of 'those') below him. The email inappropriately spoke of personal characteristics of one of my peers as well as attacks on our management team/ office and I (along with others) were shocked at the content. I sent the email to a mentor within the company and my husband who contracts with the company for advice. My email was not inappropriate in any way in my opinion (I told them I was shocked that this would be said and didn't know what to do). The email was also sent to HR as my co-workers and I were unsure of what action to take if any. HR promised the information would be confidential.

Upon realizing his mistake, the upper manager had the IT dept retract the email from Inboxes, however those that had been opened could not be deleted (which I had opened mine). They obtained information on all those that had read/ forwarded the email. On Monday, the manager sent out a brief statement apologizing for any confusion the email may have caused.

Today, I was called in to speak w/ 'upper management' to explain myself as to why I felt that I needed to send this email out. To make a long story short, I was terminated due to 'lack of judgement' in sharing this information with these people. Over the past year, there have not been any action plans or consultations in regards to my job performance or 'judgement' issues. I was told that perhaps I was put in this position 'too early' and that I am not yet ready for this type of responsibility. I have been told by two similar age co-workers (28 y.o., 25 y.o- I am 28 too) that they were told the same thing in reviews/ consultations (meaning that we were not ready for these positions), yet we have rec'd positive reviews with no negative feedback EVER!

In addition, I am 8 months pregnant and feel this might have been a perfect opportunity for them to terminate my employment along w/ the opinion of my age being too young for a management position here. FYI- we are the 3 youngest managers in the entire company to my knowledge, all hired by the same manager who no longer works for the organization.

Any feedback would be helpful....sorry about the length!

1. Your age doesn't have anything to do with this.

2. Even if it did, age discrimination protections only begin at age 40.

3. I fired an employee for a similar incident earlier this year (demonstrating very poor judgement in sending an email to someone outside the firm containing indiscreet information about the company) so your situation is not unique.
