I worked in three different bars and restaurants throughout college and have never heard about pre mixed screw drivers... May be somewhere during Mardi Gras in NO, but at 6 PM on rainy Wednesday? What I do know is that waiters and bartenders often “camouflaged” their drinks in plastic or baby cups and sipped alcohol and sip it during work… managers knew about it but had their eyes closed on it….

I worked in the restaurant industry for the better part of my life and continue to work in bars (from dives to upper class) every weekend and I've seen pre-mixed drinks served (including screwdrivers) too many times to count. And wouldn't it look suspicious if an adult was drinking from a sippy cup?

You obviously do not have a toddler.

Right on! I'm childless and I plan to stay that way.

If a restaurant had given my toddler OJ & vodka in a kids cup and then was rude and indifferent to me about "the accident"...

We're only hearing a one-sided story, but of course as everyone knows, the customer is always right.

I would sue them and make sure it was in the media.

And not only would your lawsuit fail if you couldn't prove damages, you'd likely be counter-sued due to the damage your frivolous lawsuit caused the restaurant.

please state the exact injuries suffered by your toddler as stated by the paramedic and ER MD

Amen.

Which would also fail.

You see, it wouldn't matter to me if my suit failed. They were negligent in giving alcohol to a toddler & then acted as if it was no big deal, in fact, they were rude when it was brought to their attention. I would want everyone to know how this restaurant operates and how they treat their customers. Heck, I'd probably even write a letter to the newpaper editor.

OP asks "how could serving a screwdriver in a toddler cup be an honest mistake?" Here's how: The restaurant has a nice big jug of pre-mixed screwdrivers they made hours before the dinner rush and the waiter who poured the drink made an HONEST MISTAKE and grabbed the pre-mixed screwdriver jug instead of the regular OJ. That's how. You're insinuating they did it on purpose, but from my perspective, it's a blatantly obvious honest mistake. Good luck with your frivolous lawsuit.

Apparently it was not your child. Do ALL restuarants have premixed screw drivers?

Mistake, of course! But the child, and the reaction of the manager trying to save his butt? Would you not have been the first person to call poison control if it we're your child?
