NON parent <snip> This many anyone who is not related to the child.

This is not mutually inclusive. An older sibling can a NON parent, but is related to the child. And many children are molested by older siblings. An aunt or uncle may be a NON parent, yet is related to the child. And many children are molested by aunts & uncles. Hell - many children are molester - and worse - by their parents!!!

Knee-jerk reactions in either direction are simply ignorant.

From personal experience I can tell you that while my ex and I were in the process of divroce - (it took a year and more) - we both had partners who we eventually ended up marrying and having families with.

During that time though - my daughter (then 3) would climb into my bed (with my then boyfriend) and my ex's bed (with his then girlfriend) - My daughter slept next to me (not in the middle) and slept next to my ex (not in the middle).

It was a traumatic and cnfusing time for her, and we both realized that it was best for her to clining to the parent she was with for security -

There is nothing "sick" about the scenerio. If you are uncomfortable with it - then speak to your ex...nothing is better than good communication (I should know - I never had it from my ex).

I should also note that my daughter is VERY attached to both step parents now.
