What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

I am a bookkeeper. I have a big client for whom I handle almost everything for him. Lately, I proposed to use online payment to pay the expenses for the seek of convenience. He really liked the idea and he authorized me to log into his bank account and wants me to use online payment for everything, even includes the check for my service every month. Now I am a little worried.

Is it advisable for me to log into his account and send a check to myself every month for my service? I have been working for him for many years. The service charge has not changed for a long time so the amount of the check will be the same as before. However, in case he passed away in the future, would it be possible that his heirs can take legal action against me because I have been sending checks to myself from his account?

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you add an addendum to the agreement you have with the Client? So that it expressly states that you have permission to pay xyz bills via online access, including yourself, etc etc. My contracts with Clients are quite specific to what work is done and how and electronic transactions are spelled out as well--
