What is the name of your state? CA

I was arrested recently for the first time ever. I went to jail for 3 days and the charge was then dropped (I never went to court).

Can I seal the arrest record ? Does this have to involve a lawyer ? Is this a straightforward thing to do ?

This whole mess is very unfortunate and distressing and I would like to get everything as much in order as it was before and I really don't want an arrest record out there for all to see if there is something I can do about it.

Thanks for your advice!

-What are you trying to seal, there was no conviction. The local agency will always have the report on file. Your criminal history report will show the arrest and the dismisal, but this is only for law enforcement, not the public. The public criminal history check for jobs and what not only show convictions.

I honestly don't know if you can get the arrest itself sealed, you would have to ask IAAL, Stephenk or one of the other attorneys. But i would imagine that it would be more costly than it was worth.
