What is the name of your state? FL

My STBX wife bought a 2001 Isuzu Trooper today at a little hole in the wall dealership as is. As soon as she got on the highway, she started having problems with the transmission. It started slipping gears and would not go above first/second gear unless the truck was turned off and back on. We want to take it back and not take our chances that the problem is just low transmission. I know nothing about cars and neither does she. Can they sell us a car under pretenses that there is nothing wrong with it AS IS and then not take it back? We want to try tomorrow to take it back. What kind of laws or fight do we have on our side if they refuse?

If you bought the car as-is, you had the right to inspect it before you bought it -- always a good idea if you know nothing about cars. Unless the dealership misrepresented the car or included some kind of warranty in the written contract to purchase it, the repair is at your expense. And... the car is yours legally unless the dealership wants to help you.

"As is"

As is, means just that....I have watched enough Judge Miliane to know this one...LOL..
Unless they wrote in the ad something specific like "will pass inspection", and then it does not, your stuck with the vehicle.
Did you test drive it first?
I agree with the other posters. Still, I am sorry this happened to you~

Thanks for the replies. The seller has agreed to fix the vehicle at their expense. I guess they do want to protect their reputation.
