What is the name of your state? New York

I was at my husband's Christmas party when he introduced me to a coworker. When this man shook my hand, he attempted to
pull my hand to touch his private area. When I pulled my hand back, he stepped towards me and pulled my hand again.
Without any thought, I took his four fingers, twisted them back and asked him what he was doing.
He instantly apologized and I immediately released his hand.

He is now claiming that he missed work on Monday because his fingers are sprained and he wants to press charges and sue me for the missed work. (He works commerical construction)

I should add two things:

1. This all happened in a matter of seconds. There was no "mental plan" on my part to hurt this man. I was just reacting to his incredibly rude action.

2. I am a 2nd degree brown belt. I have never used my training before.

My question. Does this man have a valid claim against me?

based on your version of the incident, he does not have a valid claim.

**A: at this point you should have immediately lifted your leg and driven your knee into his groin while yelling, "Hai, Melly Clistmus"

Then while he is lying on the floor in pain say to him "try it again pal and I'll be singing chestnuts roasting on an open fire......?"

I don't know but I think I'm going to have to go out on a limb on this one and disagree with my wonderful friend Homie.

I'd tell this jackoff to go ahead and sue. Bring the whole matter before the court where you can call everyone who was at that party as a witness to him getting his ass kicked by a G.I.R.L. :D

Hexy, there is nothing to disagree with. I was merely advising our gorgeous writer to be a kwalla bear next time.

"Duck and cover,
Duck and cover..."

Would you believe I still have that video? Found it along with a bunch of old Cold-War propaganda online ...even have "Reefer Maddness" but then you probably expected that :D

Yes he did. He did not confront him about it because he thought I had addressed it appropriately.

I appreciate the comments (especially...I was merely advising our gorgeous writer to be a kwalla bear next time)

I thought this guy was incredibly rude and that I handled it the best way possible. But, legally, I did not know if I would be held liable because of the martial arts training. This man was easily twice my size and strength.

Thanks again guys. :)

And you aren't planning on counter suing for some type of assault or battery?

Maybe it's just me, but I'm seeing intentional infliction of emotional distress.
