Has anyone had any success changing auto insurance after filing BK? Up til now, we have been pleased with our insurance company, but after filing they increased our rates. A form notice stated that they regularly review credit reports and based on that report, our rates were increased. Some hogwash included about statistics showing that lower credit scores are linked to higher claims -- like I'm going to go out and wreck my vehicle on purpose, especially since it's the one asset I held on to!

I could live with the increase the first time. However, our next semi-annual bill/renewal came and it has increased AGAIN! This increase was $80 for six months, I think the last increase was a little more.

Anyone know which insurance companies don't use credit scores?

TIA.

I am in the same boat. My ex had filed a Chapter 13 & it effected both of our credit scores. I was forced into a Chapter 7.
I have been with the same insurance company for over 12 years. I have never been stopped much less had a ticket. Haven't had a claim. My rates went from $64.00 a month to over $111.00. I could understand the increase to $64.00 as I no longer had a muti car discount or a home to insure, but the other increases are due to nothing more than my credit scores.
In my opinion it is just another way to discriminate.
