What is the name of your state?Florida
Made a legal left turn into a strip mall to pick up some items for work at a particular store. I pulled up and slowed down in front of the store at 10 am and discovered it was closed. I continued through the parking lot and was stopped and cited for avoiding a traffic control device (a traffic signal) that I would have encountered had I not turned into the strip mall.....Question: How do the police prove I intended to avoid the traffic signal? How do I prove my intent was to stop and shop for the items I needed?

By the fact that you avoided the intersection by cutting across the parking lot.

By stopping at the store.

Since a complaint from the property owner is often the reason such tickets are written, you can also let them know how you feel and choose to take you business elsewhere.

and you are wrong. A police officer seeing the event can easily write a ticket.

Another full of crap post.
Most of these tickets are written when the officer sees the violation.
