What is the name of your state?
In texas, a man is contacted by an old girlfriend and says that he is the father of a child, 12 years old now, and wants him to submit to dna testing to confirm this. is this man required to pay back child support if he is indeed the father, even though he had no knowledge of the child? thanks

Yes and no. He will be required to pay back support from the time the Petiton was filed, NOT to the birth of the child unless the woman has been on state aid for the duration.

Unless this man is ordered by a court to submit to the DNA test, he needs to tell this woman to buzz off.

Depending on the evidence she has against him regarding his knowledge of the child, he *can* be required to pay back to the birth of the child.
However, the law mandates that he may 4 years prior to the filing of the petition. I know.....been there, done that, and still being screwed over to this day.
