Back child support.

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina.

My ex signed and allowed my husband to adopt my little one and we even changed her last name. Anyways he owes back child support since he decided to never support my little one and went off into another world and practically abandoned my little one and got very addicted to meth (which he is currently in jail for now). His back child support is roughly $750 anyways everyone is making me feel bad for making him pay it even tho he's not legally responsible for her now. I just don't get how I am the bad one for wanting the back child support for my little one. She deserved to be fincially supported by her bio dad at the time and me. I have cut all ties with bio dad, expect for the back child support. Should I forgive it and allow it to go away or make him pay it? He goes to court Thursday for all the back child support.

Well, the state isn't going to do much to collect if all he owes is arrears (unless he owes the state too, in which case they'll go after their share).

So .. it's up to you. If it were me? I'd forget it.

HE owes it and child deserves it and the order/system apparently says he still owes it ....and perhaps even interest and costs .....tell the naysayers that after they comes up with the amount due and pay you you will will sign off on any required steps to indicate payment in full...in the meantime...the order is as the order is ...and if his drivers license is withheld until its paid or whatever the court directs ....so be it . ITs your call...but put the child's interests first ..not those of "everyone" who seeks to make you feel bad .....wonder just how much money he blew on meth and other things ..?
