What is the name of your state? Michigan

I filed chapter7 and it was discharged in June of 2004. I got married about 3 weeks after that. Just last week my husband and I went down to the bank to put my name on the checking account and the bank denied it. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them and if so what can be done to change that?

It confusses me that they would do something like that since a checking account is of your money not the banks money.

It is a known fact that folks that had or have financial difficulties also have problems maintaining bank accounts too. The fact it is your money is not the problem, it's folks that write bad checks and the banks that get stuck with them. It costs banks millions of dollars a year. Just like any business, if you don't like the service, take your business elsewhere.
