my wife received a loan from her ex when he was hired by a local bank. I have been told that it was inapropriate and against state banking rules(I live in Oregon)for relatives to make loans to one another.
Supposedly he was going to make the payments, but he hasn't and since only my wife signed the loan papers the bank has exclusivly been on her to repay the loan.
My question is:I have spent hundreds of hours trying to make the ex do what he said he would-make the loan payments. I have taken him to small claims court and won a judgment by default, but not received a dime. Also, this has caused a tremendous riff in my relationship with the kids dad and myself as the caretaker step-dad, to the point that the kids are exhibiting problems and probably need counseling. Finally, since the ex's troubles with the bank (he was fired shortly after the loan incident) the little amount of child support he used to pay has dried up completely. Is the bank responsible in any way for this mess, and if so what are my rights?
