What is the name of your state? New York (upstate)

Please help. I was involved in a mva in Maryland May 0f 2002. I was driving down a steep road, it was raining, and my car slid and hit an approaching vehicle in the other lane. My girlfriend was in the car, and she was pretty severely injured (she is okay now). We were all taken to the hospital via ambulance, and police were on the seen as well. I was not issued any traffic violation. At the hospital, I remember the other car (40 ish woman and young daughter) were shaken up, but okay.
Today march, 20: I receive a letter from their lawyer, suing me for: 50,000 from woman and 10,000 from daughter for trauma.
I called my insurance company and faxed them the letter (I have state farm). However, they were not named in the suit.
Am I liable for the above damage? I have a pretty extensive insurance polcy and it provides for bodily damage. However, will that policy still be in effect if my insurance co. was not named in the suit? Is there anything I should do now?
PLease help me with advice.
Thank you very much.

New York state that Personal Injury Actions must be brought within three years of the date of the injury. Is this a letter or were you served a lawsuit? Let State Farm handle it, that’s what you pay them for.

You are liable with the facts you have provided, but you have insurance – They do not have to be named in the suit. Since they are pushing the clock, they probably didn’t know your insurance co.
