What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA
Hello, I have a court date for my modification of child support set. Other than having my tax return paperwork is there anything else I should have prepared to bring into court? I have been unemployed the last few months, so I have no pay stubs. I just dont want to let the obvious speak for itself, I want to be prepared and have whatever they may ask for available. Thank you.

Depends....

Are you being taken in for modification or are you asking for a downward modification due to being unemployed? Why are you unemployed? Was it your fault?

See more facts can change the answers you get.

I am asking for the modification due to unemployment. I was involved in an accident when driving a company vehicle in which there was 2 fatalities. I am in ongoing civil and criminl proceedings in addition to losing my job. So i guess u could say it is my fault. I currently cannot drive for another company, and with this lingering crimminal case comes up when any backround check is done.

just be honest about your current situation. what was the cause of the accident. Bad driving? Drugs? Alcohol?

Are you currently looking for employment unrelated to driving?

I would say you shouldn't necessarily count on getting a downward modification because you were let go due to your own actions -- hence it can be seen as voluntary.

I was driving down the free way at nite, when 2 men ran out in the lane in front of me and were hit. I am currently having to defend involuntary manslaughter charges. Having a commercial license and driving a commercial vehicle at the time, incident automatically goes on record no matter who at fault. No drugs/alcohol/speeding/reckless driving. Just an accident. Yea have been seeking non driving jobs, but any backround checks currently show that I am being accused of a crime.

But I didnt volunteer to hit a person who stumbles out into the freeway. And god forbid I actually have to go to jail for this is that considered voluntary as well?

Will the judge actually take into consideration my situation by me just explaining it, or do I need to have the accident report and defend myself to him/her that I didnt do this voluntary? That sometimes people r put in positions that they have no control of?

What do I need to show the judge that I have been looking for work?

It frankly makes not sense that you are facing those charges for hitting a pedestrian who ran on to the freeway at night. There is more to the story...

It also makes no sense - TO ME - that those pending charges would show up on a background check for employment that doesn't require some sort of security clearance. There's no CONVICTION and therefore no CRIME.
