Hi again it's me the chick from Florida who stupidly co-signed on a loan @ 6 1/2 years ago. I met with my attorney this morning and here's the deal with the statute of limitations in Florida on installment contracts, i.e. written contracts or promissory notes:The clock starts ticking when the final payment is due, and in my case that would be 4/99, so....in other words "I'M SCREWED!" unless I can prove that before February 16, 1996 they accelerated the collection and demanded the full amount of over $6000...according to all my credit reports from the three reporting agencies this was October of 1996 but I purchased a home prior to all of this and this default was already on my credit report way before this date which would fit very nicely and the statute of limitations runs out...My question is (never thought I was gonna get to it did ya'?)how can I get access to the credit information for the year of 1995 not the updated 2001 version which would clear me legally????? Thanks in Advance, Knee Deep in Florida

My response:

Oh well, we tried, right?

Call the major credit reporting agencies, like Equifax, TRW, and Trans Union, and ask if their records go back that far.

Good luck to you.

oh well, equifax only goes back 120 days and the other two reporting agencies don't have the collection listed so now it's off to litigation land and hopefully my attorney can retrieve some form of document from the plaintiff's attorney with the Oh Holy date...thanks for all your assistance in this matter.
