I am looking to file BK, my case is simple do not own anything owe 6 credit card debts( one is judgement another on way) Court filing is $274.00. Looking to spend as least as possible on procces. What is a reasonable cost from an attorney on a simple BK incl. court fees. And should I consider filing myself with a BK Kit. (or is self filing bad idea/difficult)

Fees vary by region -- call around and ask. Bankruptcy attornies will give you a firm price quote on the phone -- most will also give you a free 30 minute consultation.

You can try to file pro se -- it should not be overly difficult if your situation is truly very simple and you are willing to spend the time to read and study. Filing yourself is not a no-brainer.

I'd agree with that statment. BK reform has made it more difficult to file pro se. Would not recommend it if you ahve any assets to protect.
First thing you need to know is your income abov or below the meduan for your state? If it's above, you won't qualify for a Chapter 7. Also, prior to filing any chapter you must under go credit counseling from a service approved by the bk court in your district.

I shopped around my area in upstate NY before I filed and found that the going rate was about $1000 plus the $274 filing fee.
