What is the name of your state? Alabama

I got a ticket for not having my emergency shut-off lanyard connected to me while my boar motor was running. I have no contest with this, I did it! My question is, can the judge give me a drug test for this charge, or just anything she wants? I have to go to court to pay the ticket but I can't pass a drug test.

In general, a court can only sentence you to conditions that are related to your offense. Since failure to attack a lanyard is not indicative of drug use, I doubt the judge can order a drug test. The judge has no probable cause to order a drug test. Just be sure to read any guilty plea you sign to see if the box next to "random durg tests" is checked.

Why do you have to go to court? Can't you just pay the ticket by mail?

I don't have a clue! The dumbass that wrote me the ticket gave me a number to the clerk's office and told me to call and see how much the fine is and pay it like a speeding ticket. When I called the clerk, she said I would have to go to court and she couldn't even tell me how much the fine is. Back to the marine policeman, he didn't even put the correct court time and date on the ticket. I have a buddy who did 48hrs of lock-up for failing a drug test in front of this same judge. He was there to pay a bad check and it was on the plea like you said. What do I do if it is on the plea?

Dont worry about it. I've been in active Law Enforcement with the Coast Guard for over 13 years and this has never been the case. It's only a minor State Law...pay the the ticket and be done with it. I still cant believe your actually going to court over this?
