I believe the kid's teacher feels the same way as we do ;)

Bwahaha.....

Believe me, at my age, I am no student. I'll probably be pushing up daisies before someone on this board can answer the question.

Maybe the question would be easier for you legal eagles if it was limited to a single state --- let's pick NJ.

Sorry kid, I'm watching the game. You don't register on the scale.

Hmm...What prevents you from watching and posting? Still haven't landed a job out of law school and can't afford a TV by your computer or haven't mastered the are of multi-tasking?

That question is rhetorical (that means its not meant to me answered). I know full well the real answer is "both".

Here's the bottom line, Ivan.

No one here owes you an answer. If you have a real situation and you'd been willing to provide real facts as to what was happening, someone might have been willing to answer you. But the volunteers here get to choose which questions they answer and they don't like to answer hypothetical questions or other people's homework. And no matter what you say, if you're still breathing you're not too old to be a student. I know of people who went back to school and got advanced degrees while in their 60's. So you're not "too old" to have homework. But you're not going to get an answer now - you've pissed off too many people. And no one has to give you an answer. I'll give you a hint, though. If you go searching for it, you can find the answer to your question here on this website.

And that's all you're getting from me, and probably more than you'll get from anyone else with your attitude.

I'm not asking any volunteers, or anyone else for that matter, to answer if they don't want to....But I can dish sarcasm and inaccurate accusations back on a forum as well as I can take it.

Hey, I can understand the frustration that these volunteers must be experiencing. Being a lawyer ain't what it used to be....but I would have expected these brilliant minds to know know that a question posed 9 months ago...and followed up on now is clearly not part of a "homework assignment". But perhaps I am giving these "volunteers" more credit than they deserve...

You can all go run along now back to your local unemployment offices....

Oh and lastly....the real situation was detailed in the original question. A company was/is basing bonuses in part on the number (actually %) of new hires and promotions given to anyone who is not a white male under 40. It is a national company with employees in all 50 states.

A simple yes, no or no response (if answer is not known) would be the respectful way to handle the thread. But instead I get false accusations and sarcasm --- so I respond in kind. "Reap what you sew".

Is this attitude the reason you've been banned from other forums?

And if you had provided those facts in the original post, instead of just asking a question in a vacuum, you might have gotten answers.

Run away and read the TOS.

Oh what the hell. I'll answer his question. It's D. Pick D on your scantron. You're welcome for the passing grade, lazybones.

--- so I respond in kind. "Reap what you sew".

For someone who is convinced he is superior to everyone you have interacted with, you do miss more than a few things.
First off I "[seam] rip what I sew" and "reap what I sow".

As does everyone else on this board. (Well, the second, I can't really speak to the first.)

I try to be honest and kind, and for that I often reap friendship and sincerity.

You are sowing discord and hyposcrisy, and so you will reap the friut they bear.

The members on this board give of their own time, around their jobs, spouses, children, and other free time activities in an effort to help people with legitimate legal issues. Many of these people either cannot afford an attorney or don't realize they are in over thier heads. As volunteers, we desire to help and often spend hours looking up statute and precedent in an effort to be of assistance.

When a person comes in here, looking for research for a book, for homework or some sort of vague hypothetical scenario and then gets rude and snotty when called on it, it's highly unlikely he or she will recieve the answers they are looking for.

Have a nice day.

While that may be true in some cases, far more often these so-called volunteers respond to questions with sarcasm, lectures and patronization --- often based on incorrect assumptions. Just browse through any page on this board; the evidence is overwhelming. The personal frustration amongst the volunteers is palpable.

When a person comes in here, looking for research for a book, for homework or some sort of vague hypothetical scenario and then gets rude and snotty when called on it, it's highly unlikely he or she will recieve (sic) the answers they are looking for.

None of this applies in my case. I am certainly not writing a book or completing homework. My question was not a hypothetical (although I see no issues with asking hypotheticals) and it contained all the relevant information to answer the question. And all I got (as I suspected I would) was sarcasm based on false accusations/assumptions from the rudest group of people assembled on the Internet. If these "volunteers" are as magnanimous as you purport, why don't they just ignore posts they don't want to answer? Why insult, chastise and provoke (this is another rhetorical question --- as the obvious answer is in the mirror of each of the "volunteers").

Thinking about it some more, it dawned on me that the behavior of the so-called volunteers on this board really amounts to bullying. And when someone has the guts to stand up to you, the troops rally and a virtual stoning of the OP ensues.

You all really should be ashamed of yourselves. And these comments are not the result of this single thread. It is an overall observation of the behavior that has gone on in this place for years. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. This should be a place where people can come to seek advice and be treated with respect --- at worst they should be ignored.

Now I will sit back and watch the lynch mob gather and attack -- or more likely these truths that I have posted will be deleted -- so the self denials can continue without challenge.
